You deserve a skincare ritual that nourishes more than just your face.
In a busy world that rushes us into caffeine-fueled mornings and quick-fix collagen supplements, I invite you to pause. To slow down. To sip something deeper. Something ancestral. Something that feeds your skin, your cells, and your nervous system from the inside out.
I’m talking about bone broth — nature’s original skin elixir.
You Are the Hero of This Story
At Beleza by Z, we believe radiant skin isn’t only built with topicals or trendy spa treatments. It begins beneath the surface — in the quiet choices we make each day. What you put into your body is just as important as what you apply to it.
Your skin barrier reflects your internal landscape. So if you're struggling with dryness, inflammation, premature aging, or sensitivities, it's time to reframe your morning ritual.
Why I Don’t Drink Coffee First Thing
Coffee can spike cortisol and create a jittery start to the day. For many with sensitive skin or autoimmune tendencies (like I once struggled with), that morning cup might actually be fueling more stress and inflammation than we realize.
Instead, I reach for something warm, grounding, mineral-rich — a homemade mug of grass-fed beef bone broth, with a pinch of Himalayan or Redmond Real Salt.
Why salt? Because our body needs electrolytes to function well. And when those minerals are pure, unprocessed, and mined from ancient sea beds, they deliver the kind of nourishment our skin can feel.
Why I Don’t Recommend Collagen Supplements
Collagen powders are everywhere, but they simply cannot deliver what they promise. Here’s why I don’t use or recommend them:
Low Bioavailability: Oral collagen is broken down by stomach acid before it can reach the bloodstream or your skin capillaries.
No Skin-Specific Targeting: Collagen doesn’t travel directly to your face or barrier. Your body decides where to use it — and that may not be where you want it most.
Many are sourced from poor quality animal parts or farmed fish, and are often laced with synthetic flavors, additives, and hidden heavy metals.
Bone broth, on the other hand, contains a synergistic matrix of amino acids, gelatin, and trace minerals — in a form your body recognizes and knows how to use. Especially when made the right way.
My Holistic Bone Broth Recipe
(Without Apple Cider Vinegar)
Most traditional bone broth recipes call for apple cider vinegar to help pull minerals from the bones. But I don’t recommend it — and here’s why:
Apple cider vinegar can also pull out heavy metals and toxins stored in the bone tissue if the animals were not grass-fed, grass-finished, or regeneratively raised. If you have an autoimmune condition or an MTHFR gene mutation (which impacts your detoxification pathways), this can become a serious concern.
Instead, choose purity.
Ingredients:
3–4 lbs grass-fed beef marrow bones, knuckle bones, and/or joint bones, for the most gelatin
Optional: 1 beef oxtail or shank for extra collagen and richness
Filtered water (enough to fully cover bones)
1–2 tsp Pure sea salt: Himelayean or Redmond salt (for minerals, add more to taste)
Optional: A few beef scraps or suet/fat trimmings
Instructions:
1. Roast the bones in a preheated oven at 400°F for 25–30 minutes for richer flavor.
2. Place bones in a large stock pot or slow cooker. Add chopped onion, celery, and carrot (optional).
3. Cover with filtered water and add salt.
4. Simmer on low heat:
Stove top: 18–24 hours
Slow cooker: 24–48 hours
5. Skim foam occasionally. When done, strain through cheesecloth or fine mesh sieve. Store in glass jars in the fridge (up to 5 days) or freeze in batches.
Beleza by Z Is Only the Guide — You Are the Ritual
Your skin doesn’t need more hype — it needs support. From your morning mug to your tallow moisturizer.
While our expertly crafted formulas can help protect your skin’s outer layer, your daily broth is working at the cellular level to restore the inner terrain.
This is the kind of slow beauty that lasts!
So tomorrow morning, before you reach for that latte or scoop of powdered collagen — pause. Sip something timeless. And remember, you are the healer your skin has been waiting for.
With love,
Z.
